This is a problem which can happen in late pregnancy. It is usually picked up by midwives who may notice high blood pressure or protein in the urine. Sometimes it can cause symptoms such as headaches, blurred vision and tummy pain. If it isn't treated it can lead to fits (known as eclampsia) and other severe problems for the baby and mother.
