1.  Is there a home test for HbA1c?

Yes. HbA1c could be measured at home but is rarely done, is expensive and should not be necessary if your are being monitored by your doctor.

2.  Are all HbA1c tests the same?

There is an international effort to make HbA1c tests give the same result. Many, if not most, tests are standardised to large clinical study referred to as the DCCT (Diabetes Complications and Control Trial). A new specific HbA1c standard preparation is being introduced which will allow global comparison of HbA1c results.
