Common Questions
  1. Are medical ethanol results released for legal purposes?
2. Can I choose which sample will be collected?
3. Does everyone metabolize alcohol at the same rate?

1. Are medical ethanol results released for legal purposes? In general, no, except by direction of the Courts. In most cases, medical and legal results are evaluated separately. Results obtained on medical samples my not be legally admissible because chain of custody procedures have not been followed.

2. Can I choose which sample will be collected? In most cases, there is a primary type of sample that is collected, but alternative is often available for confirmation and/or to refute findings.

3. Does everyone metabolize alcohol at the same rate? A general rule of thumb is one drink equivalent (see above) an hour, but there is considerable individual variation due to differences in factors such as race, gender, and body weight.
