Troponin Test

Also known as: TnI, TnT
Formal name: Cardiac-specific Troponin I and Troponin T (cTnI and cTnT)

Why get tested?
To determine if you have had a heart attack or injury to heart muscle

When to get tested?
Troponins are measured if you are having chest pain that may be due to a heart attack.  It shows whether a heart attack has occurred.

Sample required?
A blood sample taken from a vein in the arm
