Early Detection
Because early detection of breast cancer makes the disease easier to treat (diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer in the early stage results in a cure over 90% of the time), there are many recommendations for regular self examination. However, the value of self examination remains somewhat controversial and can result in increased anxiety and an increase in breast biopsies.
