Screening Tests for Adults (Over 50 years)

Breast cancer

In the UK, Breast cancer is the commonest single cause of death in women aged 35-45. In the first ten years since the introduction of the NHS Breast Cancer screening programme, research has shown that death from breast cancer has fallen by 21%, as a consequence of earlier detection and improved treatment. Currently, screening with mammography is offered to all women aged 50-65, with a view to increasing the upper age limit to 70 in the near future.
